Ski vacations La Rosière - Ski down between history and alpine giants!

La Rosière

La Rosière is situated at an altitude of 1,850 m and is a relatively young village i comparison to others in the region. Founded at the beginning of the 1950s, the ski resort was placed on a mountain plateau and not without reason. Because of the south-facing orientation, the numerous wood-clad Neosavoyard chalets face the sun almost all day long. This means that visitors, who are drawn to the Savoyard Alps every winter, always have a fantastic panoramic view of the surrounding Alpine giants directly from the resort.

Not to mention that the border to Italy is actually just a stone's throw away, behind the Little St. Bernard Pass. Moreover, with Savoyard specialities, La Rosière not only provides exciting options for lovers of French cuisine, but also historical insights into the history of the Grande Nation.

For about 500 m above the ski station, on the ridge of the Crête du Roc Noir, lies the Fort de la Redoute Ruinée. Originally built in 1630, the fort served as border security between France and Italy at the end of the 19th century, before playing an important role in the Battle of the Alps in 1940 during the Second World War. Today, the fortress is a ruin with walls also accessible in winter for hikers and even skiers from the nearby ski area.

Espace San Bernardo

Winter sports in the "Espace San Bernardo" is literally a borderline experience! In the shadow of the highest Alpine peak, Mont Blanc (4,809 m), the ski region offers international snow fun in France and Italy. On the French side of the Little St. Bernard Pass, the gentle slopes in the La Rosière ski area tend to attract beginners, while in the Italian part, the picturesque La Thuile is considered an Eldorado for sporty skiers because of its numerous red slopes. The two ski areas in the Tarentaise and the Aosta Valley have been connected since 1986. Today, over 140 kilometres of pistes await winter sports enthusiasts in the entire Espace San Bernardo ski region, which is optimally accessible by 37 lifts and one gondola. Thanks to an altitude of up to 2,800 m, snow is guaranteed for piste lovers, freestyle acrobats and cross-country skiing fans in the alpine border region, especially in the high season.
