The Giant Mountains form the largest part of the Sudetes, which lie between Poland and the Czech Republic. The Sněžka (Snow Top) is the highest peak of the Sudetes and therefore also the highest mountain in the Czech Republic, with an altitude of 1,600 m. Typical for the region are the jagged stone rims and mountain lakes. Near the peak of Mount Medvědín you can find the source of the River Elbe.
