Ski vacations Trafoi – rustic mountain village near the Stelvio Pass!
Trafoi
Not too far from the Swiss border lies the rustic mountain village of Trafoi in the idyllic countryside of the Stelvio National Park. A magnificent mountain backdrop, with multiple peaks of 3000 m, surrounds the village of 90 inhabitants and the Ortler mountain (3,905 m), the highest in Southern Tyrol, looms nearby. Trafoi itself is located at a significant altitude of 1,570 m and is therefore right in the middle of the impressive mountain landscape. Directly on the Stelvio Pass in Tralfoi there is the visitor centre "naturatrafoi", where informative exhibitions about the flora and fauna, as well as the geology and life in the national park are located. With over 300 sunny days a year and multiple winter sports areas in the surrounding area, the holiday destination is an attractive area for those seeking relaxation, as well as families and active sports fans. The local ski area for Trafoi is called Furkel and has around 8.3 km of family-friendly slopes, some of which lead into the resort. In addition, there is a diverse selection of leisure activities, including such things as tobogganing, snow shoe trails and cross-country tracks.Trafoi is also the home of the ski racing legend Gustav Thöni, who, as an Olympic and overall World Cup champion, as well as a fivefold Alpine Ski World champion, has gone down in history as one of the most successful racers. With the winter sports opportunities delivered by the Ortler area, it's no wonder that ski heroes are born here. More than 60 years ago, the first ski lift in Southern Tyrol opened in Trafoi. SInce then, the Ortler Arena has developed into an attractive and family friendly ski region, that unites 15 ski areas.
