Ski vacations Suhl - winter paradise at the Rennsteig!
Suhl
In the vast valley of Lauter, Hasel and Vesser, on the south-western face of the Thuringian Forest, lies Suhl. The highest peak, the local mountain Domberg is 675 m high. Suhl formerly used to be known for salt mining, ore mining and iron forging, but has today turned into a tourist magnet with various leisure time occupations. Tradition and history yet live on in the armoury museum and in the mining museum. The pretty, traditional facades of the old houses, originating from a range of decades and which can be found along the main shopping mile, are a further indicator of the town's former purpose, Especially idyllic are those districts which are situated directly on the edge or even in the more rigged part of the Turingian Forest. Two of these, Goldlauter-Heidersbach and Vesser, are further state-approved spa resorts. Relaxation and activity are therefore closely related in Suhl.Thuringian Forest
In the heart of Germany lies the Thuringian Forest, a largest forested and hilly area in the federal state of Thuringia. The approx. 150 m long and 35 km wide terrain around the Rennsteig is ideal for a short break and some easy skiing. Wonderful nature, clear air and beautiful winter landscapes are waiting here for you, in the western part of the area, near Neustadt. Let yourself be inspired by the pretty castles and fortresses and wander on the paths of ancient poets - the German masters of literature, Goethe and Schiller, both spent time in this region. Snow-covered forests and volcanic rock has formed this area to make it what it is today and will surely entice you with its beauty.Travel Suhl
