Ski area Sölden
With a 2-day ski pass, the "Sölden" ski pass is valid, which opens up 143 kilometres of piste at an altitude of 1,350 - 3,340 m, served by 31 modern lift systems. Sölden has become famous above all for its two glacier ski areas Rettenbach and Tiefenbach, which with their three peaks Tiefenbachkogl (3,309 m), Innere Schwarze Schneid (3,370 m) and Gaislachkogl (3,058 m) are used by "normal" ski fans as well as national ski teams to kick off the season. Beginners get their money's worth in the Innerwald and on the Giggijoch, while advanced skiers can choose from a variety of blue and red pistes throughout the ski area. Professionals are drawn to the challenging pistes on the Gaislachkogl ski mountain.
In winter, Sölden is one of the best resorts in the Alps. It is the only glacier ski area in Austria where three three-thousand metre peaks are perfectly accessible with lifts. In particular, the gondola lift on the Rettenbachferner accelerates the "Golden Gate to the Glacier" connection between Giggijoch and the glacier ski area. Since the 2016/2017 season, the Giggijochbahn has also been transporting approx. 4,500 winter sports enthusiasts per hour to the heart of the Sölden ski area, making it the world's highest transport capacity.
At the Gaislachkogel mountain station, the Ice Q Restaurant & Lounge attracts all discerning gourmets for an exclusive stop-off. It is considered one of the best mountain restaurants. The purist glass building at an altitude of over 3,000 metres offers a panoramic view of the mountains and the Big 3. The upscale Kitchen serves Alpine cuisine and exquisite wines, with a romantic "Summit Dinner" once a week. A free-floating suspension bridge takes you to the adjoining viewing platform, from where you have a great view of the Big 3.
As a special extra, the ski area offers free Wi-Fi for its guests at various hotspots throughout the area! Among other things, all cabins on the new Giggijochbahn cable car are equipped with Wi-Fi. With just a few easy steps, you can access the network and send the best pictures of your descents directly to your loved ones back home.
The "BIG 3 Rallye" is highly recommended: Explore the entire ski area including the BIG 3 peaks - a unique experience with breathtaking views!
The boarder scene meets up in the snowpark at Giggijoch, which leaves nothing to be desired with boardercross, kickers, tubes, jibs and rails. The Ötztal Arena is also a true freeride paradise with over 70 km of off-piste variants and plenty of powder. The descents, with a difference in altitude of up to 2,000 metres, are a thrill for every freerider and offer plenty of fun.
Night skiing Sölden
Numerous night ski resorts in Austria give skiers the opportunity to enjoy night skiing on some of the pistes in addition to the daily operating hours of the lifts. From December to March, the "Wednesday Night Fever" takes place every Wednesday in Sölden. Visitors can experience the special pleasure of night skiing on the 4-kilometre-long, floodlit piste no. 10, which leads from the middle station of the Gaislachkogelbahn lift down to the valley. At the same time, one of the longest toboggan runs in Austria provides fast-paced tobogganing fun under the starry sky.Après ski Sölden
For those who prefer a quieter atmosphere, the cosy cafés and restaurants in Sölden are the place to be. From rustic to chic, from traditional to international, there is something to suit every palate. Relax after a strenuous day of skiing in the spa area of the Freizeit Arena or in the thermal world of the Aqua Dome in Längenfeld.
Snowpark Sölden: AREA 47 Snowpark Sölden
The freestyle pearl of the Ötztal, the "AREA 47 Snowpark Sölden", is located on the Giggijoch under the Hainbachkar and Silberbrünnl chair lifts. The crew on site provides freshly shaped powder every day so that the approx. 5-hectare park, located at an altitude of 2,450 metres, leaves nothing to be desired.
Beginners to pros can freestyle here in three different difficulty levels and put their skills to the test. Lots of kickers, tubes, rails and boxes provide plenty of variety. For additional options, there are various jibs such as the Jibcan or the 12-metre Elephant Box, so that riders can show off their creativity at the highest level.
In addition to the snowpark, there is also a 950-metre-long funslope in Sölden. It doesn't matter whether you are an absolute beginner or an advanced skier, because the Funslope is mainly there to have fun while riding over waves and small kickers and enjoying the panoramic views.
