Ski area Grünberg

On the Grünberg (1,497 m), Obsteig's local mountain, winter sports enthusiasts can look forward to a small, family-friendly ski area that extends up to 1,102 m. The gently sloping slope with a 1.3 km descent is perfect for children's first attempts at skiing and beginners - and is also easy for accompanying parents to navigate. A large, flat winter playground invites young ski beginners to practise. Five magic carpets take children comfortably up the slope, where colourful obstacles make learning fun.

A little higher up, the Grünberg lift leads to the blue descent with a length of 700 m - ideal for adult beginners as well as advanced skiers and snowboarders. At the top end of the tow, a panoramic chair invites you to pause for a moment, from where you can look out over the entire ski area.

Directly below the adventure area is the Grünberg Alm - a cosy place to stop for a bite to eat for young and old. In addition to childcare facilities, there is also an adventure playground from which the ski slope is clearly visible. There is also a toboggan slope above the large conveyor belt, which stretches all the way down to the parking space.

For those who prefer to head off-piste, the ski school meeting point is the gateway to the ski touring area. Three different routes start directly from the parking space into the snow-covered landscape. For example, you can take the ungroomed ski touring piste to the Sauwetterhütte - a 1.5-hour tour to the peak of the Grünberg at around 1,500 metres. Another beginner-friendly 2-hour tour to the Lacke rewards you with a marvellous view of the Inntal valley. The Simmering route is more challenging, taking around 3 hours to reach the 2,096 m high panoramic mountain. Guided tours are offered for beginners in Obsteig and the necessary equipment can be hired from the local ski school.

Après ski Grünberg

In the Mieming & Tirol Mitte holiday region, you can experience a varied active holiday away from the pistes in all its facets. The free "Guest Card", available from the tourist information office or directly from your accommodation, opens the door to a varied activity programme. This includes guided snowshoe and cross-country skiing tours, lantern hikes and classic-style tobogganing fun. The card also gives you free use of the ski bus and free tobogganing hire.

A popular destination for families is the Höhenburg Klamm - a restored 13th century building with an imposing keep and ancient walls that immerses visitors in the world of the Middle Ages.

Fans of ice skating also get their money's worth in the region. In winter, the Mieming bathing lake has a 900 m² ice rink with floodlights and background music - an atmospheric experience for skaters and walkers alike. Other artificial ice rinks can be found at the Telfs ice rink, the Silz artificial ice arena and the Wildermieming artificial ice rink.

For those who prefer to explore nature on foot, there are five themed hiking trails in the Alpinpark. The signposted trails lead from Obsteig via Mieming to Wildermieming and feature information boards about the regional flora, fauna and landscape. A particularly cosy way to discover the sunny plateau is a panoramic horse-drawn carriage ride through the wintry mountain landscape.

Only around 12 km away via the Mieminger Straße is Telfs with its large sports centre, which is ideal for bad weather days. Whether ice skating, bowling, squash, tennis or climbing - active holidaymakers get their money's worth here. A triple gymnasium, a restaurant and a newly designed indoor pool with sauna and solarium provide additional variety and relaxation.
