Ski vacations Maria Luggau - Idyllic Mühldorf in the Lesach Valley!
Maria Luggau
Little Maria Luggau lies in the wildly beautiful nature of the Lesach Valley. The historic village is known for three things: old water mills, the magnificent basilica and, above all, a dreamlike winter holiday. Maria Luggau has been a well-known place of pilgrimage since the 16th century. The historic monastery complex and the pilgrimage church of Maria Schnee in the village centre - the only basilica in Carinthia - bear witness to this! In addition, the everyday life of the people of Luggau is characterised by the miller's trade. Five old water mills are still in operation today, thanks to the millers' association, and grind fresh grain. In the farm shop, around 60 farmers from the area sell the fresh bread and other delicacies. The Luggauer live freely according to the motto "always with the calm". This is also felt by the guests in this sacred place, where peace and security are at home. In winter, the homely atmosphere is even more pronounced. Then there is nothing better than trudging through the quiet winter landscape and enjoying nature. For active sportsmen, the nearest skiing area is about 10 km west of the village.
Lesachtal
From Eastern Tyrol to Carynthia, between Tilliach and Villach, runs the Gailtal. The attractiveness of the valley lays no doubt in the untouched natural surroundings and the strong contrast of the low and vast valley basin with the rough mountain sides. The Lesachtal runs stretches over 20 km, parallel to the country boundaries of Austria and Italy, and is also part of the Carynthian Gailtal. It is surrounded by the Gailtal Alps in the North and South, and the last of the Lienz Dolomites in the North. This valley is known as the "most natural valley" in Europe and therefore is also a paradise of a kind for winter sports fans and hikers. Skiers and boarders only need approx. 55 minutes to reach the ski areas located just south of the Alps. The region provides a number of routes in avalanche-secured areas, which are ideal for ski tours and winter hikes. Culturally the valley is dominated mainly by farming tradition.Travel Maria Luggau
