Ski vacations Kühtai - Imperial accommodation in Austria’s highest winter sports resort!
Kühtai
Situated at 2,017 metres, Kühtai is Austria’s highest winter sports resort and guarantees snow from December to May! The hotel village, with its small permanent population, lies on the Kühtaisattel, which links the Sellraintal valley in the east with the Nedertal valley in the west. Here, amidst the idyllic setting of the Stubai Alps, guests can enjoy an atmosphere far removed from mass tourism. Kühtai itself was first mentioned in a document in 1288 as the Schwaighof "Chutay". From 1622 onwards, the striking hunting lodge in the village served as a mountain retreat, first for Archduke Leopold V and later for Emperor Franz Joseph I.Today, Kühtai’s townscape is characterised by a combination of historic architecture and modern hotel complexes. In winter, here in the shadow of the Sellrain Valley’s peaks and between the Finstertal and Längental reservoirs, skiing naturally takes centre stage. Many slopes in Kühtai start right outside the accommodation, whilst cross-country skiing, winter hiking, tobogganing, shopping and spa facilities are almost all within walking distance. Furthermore, the first-class hotels offer attractive spa programmes, and there are shopping opportunities in Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol, just 30 km away.
Sellraintal
Not far from a major urban area, yet still a long way from mass tourism lays the Sellraintal. Due to it's original charm it almost appears like a nature park. and therefore it is an ideal destination in both summer and winter. In winter there is great ski area to be explored up to 2,500 m altitude, and further ski touring areas, cross-country tracks, snowshoe trails and ice climbing facilities. Perfect for learning about the beautiful, untouched winter landscape! Even though the village has maintained it's original character and does not suffer under the massive invasion of tourists, it nevertheless an entertaining place to go - and even apres ski does not fall short here!"Getting to Kühtai
