Ski area Mölltal Glacier

With the "SkiHit" lift pass, you can enjoy a total of 168 kilometres of piste in the seven ski areas of East Tyrol (see ski region). These include the two highest ski mountains in Carinthia, the Mölltal Glacier and the Ankogel.

From Flattach, the Glacier Express, the longest underground funicular in the Alps, takes you in just a few minutes to Carinthia's only glacier ski area on the Mölltal Glacier with its 36 kilometres of piste, 7 km of ski routes and 9 lifts. The tree-free "Cinemascope pistes" on the "Mölli" are particularly popular with carvers. Fans of high speeds choose the long, highest FIS descent in Carinthia down to Flattach. Of course, there is also a fun park up here for the freestylers among you.

Families appreciate the ski area on the Ankogel, which is only around 10 kilometres away. From Mallnitz, you can head up to this popular panoramic mountain with approx. 13 kilometres of piste. Experts feel at home on the wide and open summit slopes with magnificent views of the Großglockner and the Dolomites, while the Köfele lifts in the valley are mainly for beginners. Snow minis can rely on Penguin Bobo and his children's ski school. Another particularly attractive route is the 5 km descent to the valley to Mallnitz with an altitude difference of 1,349 metres.

Après ski Mölltal Glacier

On the edge of the Mölltal Glacier at an altitude of 2,800 metres lies the highest conservatory in Carinthia, the "Eissee" panorama restaurant. The gigantic glass and steel construction is enthroned above the eternal ice, so to speak, and reflects the mountain world from the Schareck to the Sonnblick and the Lienz Dolomites in its glass surfaces. The menu "reflects" delicious Carinthian and international cuisine.

In Obervellach, you can enjoy the peace and idyllic setting on site, fortify yourself in the restaurants in the evening for the next exciting day of skiing and, above all, enjoy the excellent Carinthian specialities. However, if you want to reflect on the day with a drink after having fun on the slopes, you can simply stay right by the ski area. At the Mölltal Glacier in Flattach, for example, the Europa Bar or the Hütt'n Wirt is a favourite meeting place.

You can also end the day just as sportily as you started it. Explore the landscape on a winter hike or a carriage ride along the Möll. Or dare a speedy descent on the 3 km-long toboggan run. On the ice rink, ice skaters do their laps and in the tennis centre the balls fly around your ears at tennis or squash. The Obervellach adventure bath offers not only a swimming area but also a varied sauna landscape and a massage area.

The freestylers among you should pay special attention to the ski area on the Mölltal Glacier. The fun park below the mountain station at Gletscher Jet attracts professional boarders to the ski area and makes it a popular meeting place. A wave run, kickers and jumps provide variety here and give you the opportunity to marvel at the fascinating panorama from above.

This sounds too boring for you? Then you should check out the boardercross course and compete with the pros of the scene.
