Ski vacations Bad Goisern - Ski enjoyment, relaxation and culture!
Bad Goisern
The tranquil spa resort of Bad Goisern is located at approx. 500 m altitude in the wonderful resort of Salzkammergut. In the north it borders the popular imperial city of Bad Ischl. In the 19th Century Kaiser Franz Joseph I. of Austria regularly came here during the summer months. Surrounded by imposing mountains and Lake Hallstatt in the south, the historic resort of Bad Goisern provides an unforgettable experience. Families and all those looking for peace and relaxation will be impressed. Fans of Nordic skiing will also get their moneys worth, as they will find a true cross country paradise here. If you'd rather stick to alpine skiing, there are ideal conditions to do so in the "Dachstein West" ski area approx. 20 km away.
Dachstein Salzkammergut
The inner Salzkammergut is a historical and scenic cultural area in the foothills of the Northern Alps, stretching from around the Dachstein massif from Bad Ischl in the North to Bad Mitterndorf in the East. Hence, the entire Salzkammergut lies in the federal states of Upper Austria, Styria and Salzburg, whereas Dachstein lies mainly in Upper Austria. The Dachstein massif is rich in salt, attributing the region an important role as far back as the 14th century. On top of that, some important archaeological findings were made. The unique environment together with the historically important cultural landscape made the area become a UNESCO World Natural and World Cultural Heritage site in 1997. Today, the salt mines and the panorama of the World Natural Heritage region are great tourist attractions, just like the diverse winter sports offers at the Dachstein massif.
